The Hriceniak Award is CAHCH’s highest honor, and is presented to an RN who is a visionary role model in the development and implementation of innovative projects that positively affect the ever-changing home care environment. Eagle Scout Projects
With the kind support of two local Boy Scouts, the Granby Food Bank—a program of the Farmington Valley VNA—now has both, a food storage bin and a shade-covering gazebo. Granby resident Charlie Brinegar, 16, a Life Scout with Simsbury Boy Scout Troop 175, began working on his Eagle Scout Service Project in the Spring of 2017. With combined effort with Dan Fauteux of Fauteux Construction, Charlie gave back to his community by constructing a donation storage bin at the entrance of the Food Bank, and continues towards the prestigious Eagle Scout rank.
Brendan Sayers, a resident of North Granby, was 17 at the time when he began his Eagle Scout community service project, also at the Granby Food Bank. Now at UCONN, Brendan completed the construction of a gazebo with the assistance of Scout and community volunteers at the Food Bank in August of 2017, and has since been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. Congratulations to our community Scouts. We are honored that they choose chose Farmington Valley VNA as their community project!
The Master’s School "Job Shadow Day"
During the Fall of 2017, the Farmington Valley VNA’s own Nancy Scheetz participated in The Master’s School “Job Shadow Day”. Along with other local businesses, Nancy shared her professional expertise with 70 high school students, who gained knowledge and mentoring on careers to pursue following high school graduation. Students pared up with clinical staff of the VNA, and made home visits to better understand the field of Home Care. Thanks Nancy and the VNA staff for your time in expanding the horizons of our future work force!
Nancy Scheetz, our Executive Director, celebrated the unveiling of 'Embrace Peace' the iconic statue celebrating the end of WWII. Part of the Art Trail on display from May 15th through September 15th, 2018, the statue is sponsored by the VNA in recognition of the role nurses play in our society and in recognition of their 110th year of service.
Committed to the growth and success of local small businesses, the Farmington Valley VNA is proud to be a member of both the Simsbury and Avon Chamber of Commerces. Our very own Executive Director Nancy Scheetz proudly represents the agency by serving as the 2017-2018 Vice President for the Simsbury Chamber. In addition, one of our clinical staff members serves on the Avon Chamber’s “Health and Wellness” Committee.
